Artist of the Month – Valentina Brostean

Please join us at our next opening, and take the opportunity of meeting Valentina Brostean, Artist of the Month of June, at our gallery and enjoy her very special art vibes.

After spending over a decade inTurin (Italy) she is now residing in Barcelona (Spain). Brostean holds a BFA in Graphic Design and an MFA in Illustration from the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Novi Sad. Brostean is a multi-disciplinary visual artist with over 15 years of experience in the creative world- working both with traditional and digital mediums.

Her bold, colorful style, often described as “new contemporary figuration” is specific for its use of courageous, unexpected compositions, a daring color palette and unique, striking imagery. In her personal work, she has been strongly inspired by all the aspects of human nature – exploring subconscious, emotional states, dreams, real and the surreal. She has developed her own, very personal technique and style – the result of a perpetual journey, a constant search for identity and complexity of meanings.

As one of the emerging contemporary artists appreciated by international clients, her artwork has been selected by Armani Exchange, The Washington Post, Il Corriere Della Sera, Bicycle USA and Kabinet Brewery, amongst many others.

NOMADS | Mask sculptures & Ready-made objects

“Since I arrived in Barcelona, I have become obsessed with the objects of all sorts that people throw in the trash daily, as well as the human relation regarding those abandoned objects. “Someone’s trash is someone else’s treasure”.

I collected and re-used rejected objects as a basic building material to create Ready-made art objects.  The alchemist process took place when these objects started to have their faces and tell their story, revealing my internal transition and metamorphosis!

I was looking for old suitcases, pieces of clothes, boxes, wood panels, photos, or letters that are “re-born” under my hands, using also glue, varnish, acrylics, and watercolors.  I called these objects and paintings “Nomads”. Wo are these faces staring at us? Nomads – humans in transformation.
